Get Set 4 Autism

Support for Parents & Carers
Support that is available at any point of a family’s journey

What is Get Set 4 Autism?

Get Set 4 Autism provides support to parents and carers of autistic children and young people across Scotland up to the age of 18 years old.

This programme of support is available at any point in a family’s journey. Therefore offering pre assessment support to those whose children are on a waiting list for an autism assessment, but also post assessment support following an autism diagnosis.

The overarching aims of Get Set 4 Autism is to promote a greater understanding of autism, improve communication between parents and professionals, and ultimately equip parents and carers with the information and practical skills they need to enable them to better support their child moving forwards.

What can parents/carers expect?

The support offered through Get Set 4 Autism is personalised to each family circumstances. The programme is therefore based on how parent and carers feel they would benefit from the support the most.

Through the programme we identify up to 5 areas of support. These areas of support can vary from family to family, below are some examples of areas families have identified;

  • Understanding of Autism
  • Education
  • Sleep
  • Stress and Anxiety
  • And much more…

The support itself is provided over 4-6 sessions, that last for approximately 1 - 1.5hours on days and times that suit the family. These sessions can be delivered virtually via Zoom or MS Teams, or if preferred over the phone. We are willing to explore a family’s preferred option for accessing sessions.

How to Access

There are two main ways that families can access the Get Set 4 Autism programme:

  • Parent and Carers can refer themselves.

  • We also accept referrals on behalf of parents and carers from professionals who are involved with the family e.g. Pediatricians, Social Worker, and Teachers etc. However, please note, consent must be obtained from the parent and carers to make a referral.
